Safety & Preparation
Proper preparation is essential for a safe and meaningful ceremony. Below is the complete guidance for each medicine we work with. Please read the section for your ceremony thoroughly before we meet. The preparation you bring is part of the ceremony itself.
Kambo Ceremony
Welcome to Kambo Medicine
You have heard the call and Kambo has answered. This sacred medicine from the Amazon jungle is not only a physical detox but a spiritual initiation, an energetic clearing, and a prayer for alignment. Whether this is your first time or part of a deeper journey, you are entering a space of transformation guided by ancient wisdom, nature's intelligence, and the deep wisdom of your own body.
3 to 5 Days Before — Cleanse & Align
Dietary Recommendations
- Avoid red meat, pork, fried or greasy foods
- Minimize processed sugar, caffeine, and alcohol
- Refrain from cannabis and recreational substances
- Eat clean, whole foods: fruits, vegetables, rice, legumes
- Hydrate well (up until 12 hours before ceremony)
Energetic Preparation
- Begin a practice of meditation, prayer, or journaling
- Reflect on your intention for receiving the medicine
- Abstain from sexual activity for 2 to 3 days to conserve your energy
Fasting Instructions
12-hour fast before ceremony — absolutely no food or water. Do not eat or drink anything (not even water, tea, gum, or supplements). This fast must begin 12 hours before your ceremony start time. Example: if your ceremony begins at 9:00 AM, stop all food and water by 9:00 PM the night before. Kambo is a purgative medicine — this fast is essential to your safety and the full effectiveness of the experience.
Optional Preparations
- Take a salt bath or sweat in a sauna the night before
- Smudge your body and space with sage, copal, or palo santo
- Rest deeply and disconnect from social media and electronics
What to Bring
- A clean towel
- Loose, comfortable clothing & a change of clothes
- Water bottle
- Pillow and blanket if staying overnight
- A hair tie (if needed)
- A sacred object (crystal, feather, or talisman)
- An open heart and clear intention
Recommended Foods
Pre-Ceremony (up to 3 days before)

- Leafy greens (spinach, kale, romaine, arugula)
- Whole grains (brown rice, quinoa, oatmeal)
- Legumes (lentils, mung beans, well-cooked black beans)
- Herbal teas (chamomile, peppermint, ginger, lemon balm)
- Plenty of clean, room-temperature water (until fasting begins)
Post-Ceremony (first 24–72 hours)
- Vegetable broth or miso soup
- Well-cooked rice or congee (rice porridge)
- Steamed or baked root vegetables (beets, sweet potatoes, carrots)
- Fruits with high water content (watermelon, pear, mango)
- Soothing teas (ginger, fennel, tulsi, chamomile)
- Coconut water or natural electrolyte drinks
- Light probiotic foods (introduced gently)
What to Avoid
Before Ceremony
- Red meat, pork, or heavy animal proteins
- Dairy products (milk, cheese, yogurt)
- Refined sugar (sweets, pastries, sodas)
- Fried or greasy foods
- Caffeine and alcohol
- Prescription meds and supplements (unless approved)
- Highly processed foods; overeating, especially the night before
After Ceremony (2–3 days minimum)
- Processed or fried foods
- Refined sugar and sweets
- Large servings of meat or dairy
- Caffeine (reintroduce gently after 3 days if needed)
- Heavy meals or excessive stimulation (crowds, social media)
Remember, this is your journey. These suggestions are not rules — they are invitations to help you get the most from your Kambo experience. The more intentional you are, the more the medicine can meet you. Any medication or recreational drug use must be disclosed and approved before ceremony, and the 12-hour water and food fast is non-negotiable.

Bufo Ceremony
Welcome to the Sacred Path of Bufo Alvarius
You are entering a sacred communion with the spirit of Bufo Alvarius — one of the most powerful entheogens on Earth. This medicine is not a shortcut. It is not an escape. It is a return. Carried and honored by the Seri people of the Sonoran Desert, when approached with reverence and preparation it can dissolve illusion, unify the soul, and awaken your deepest remembrance. What you do before and after ceremony deeply impacts the transmission you receive.
Preparation Guidelines — 2 to 3 Days Before
Bufo is not physically toxic, and vomiting is not typical, but it does require a clear and centered vessel.
- Hydration is welcomed — water, coconut water, or herbal teas. Do not fast from water.
- Eat light the night before — plant-based, easy to digest, no heavy or greasy foods
- Sleep well. The medicine opens most when the nervous system is rested
- Abstain from cannabis, alcohol, and recreational substances for at least 3 days prior (7+ ideal)
- Avoid strong stimulants like coffee, energy drinks, or sugar
- Meditate or reflect on your intention — what are you ready to see? What are you willing to release?
Pre-Ceremony Diet
The cleaner and lighter your system, the more deeply the medicine can move through you.
Recommended
- Light fruits: papaya, melon, berries
- Steamed vegetables
- Brown rice, quinoa, oats
- Herbal teas (no caffeine)
- Bone or veggie broth
- Lots of clean water
Avoid
- Red meat, pork, heavy oils
- Processed or fried foods; dairy, cheese
- Sugar, candy, sodas
- Alcohol, cannabis, tobacco
- Coffee and stimulants
- Any other entheogens or medications not cleared
The Night Before
- Eat early (before 7 PM) — light soup or fruit is ideal
- Go to bed early and grounded
Post-Ceremony Care
Bufo continues to unfold for days after ceremony. Support the integration by eating grounding and nourishing foods.
Nourish With
- Root vegetables (sweet potato, squash, beets)
- Steamed greens and salads
- Oatmeal, quinoa, lentils
- Herbal teas (chamomile, tulsi, rose)
- Plenty of water and electrolytes
- Light proteins if desired: tempeh, fish, beans
Avoid
- Heavy, greasy meals
- Alcohol, cannabis, stimulants
- Large crowds or overstimulation
- Social media or over-sharing the experience too soon
Give yourself at least 48 hours of integration time. Be in nature, silence, and solitude. Let the messages settle.
This medicine doesn't give you answers — it strips away everything that is not you, so you can feel the truth you already carry. There is no right way to prepare, no perfect path. Only your honesty. Only your willingness. Let your body be your altar. Let your breath be your prayer. Come as you are. Leave what no longer serves. Remember who you are.

Integration & Aftercare
Sacred re-entry
The medicine continues working well after the physical ceremony ends. It clears, awakens, and realigns body and spirit — and how you care for yourself afterward determines how deeply the healing takes root. The days and weeks following ceremony are a sacred time for integration.
First 24 to 72 Hours
- Rest — your body just released a massive load; honor the process
- Eat light, clean meals (soups, fruit, steamed veggies)
- Drink plenty of water and herbal teas
- Avoid alcohol, sugar, heavy meats, and overstimulation
- Journal your dreams, insights, and feelings
Emotional Awareness
You may feel emotional, raw, clear, or energized. Let it move through you. Avoid numbing or pushing it away — this is part of your purification.
Continued Integration Support
- Continue clean eating and hydration
- Spend time in nature
- Schedule bodywork, movement, or quiet space
- Avoid major decisions for 2 to 3 days
- Meditate daily, even just 10 minutes
- Breathwork, gentle movement, sound healing, or soft music
- Prayer, gratitude, and sacred ritual
- Consider 1:1 integration calls or therapy to process what emerged (available upon request)
Let the insights reveal themselves in layers. What's important is not to make sense of it all — but to stay present, humble, and true.
